These past 2 years taught us that we need each other. More than we thought we would. Our community of women have a lot to offer and we want to share and get to know everyone so we can help and serve each other as needed. Life takes a village.

Alembika women are artists, well traveled, open minded, good friends, teachers, doctors, researchers, grandmothers, neighbors, community builders; all with a great sense of style. We made the below form (“Tell us about yourself”) so you each, if you feel like it, share something about yourself so we can share it with our group.

Get to know your village a bit better.

Happy Week Everyone!

  1. I had been a long time customer of Rootchie on Broadway bet 90-91, where I fell in love with
Alembika and also Jackie, who became a good friend. I miss her and the shop. I would go in to say hello and never left without a package. I found everything so irresistible that I have enough clothes for the next hundred years.!!!

  2. I’m Beth Marx. I grew up in northeast Ohio and moved to Long Beach, California in 1972 where I have lived ever since. I live about a mile from the beach in an old bungalow with my two dogs, a four year old huge Weimaraner and a 14 year old rescue small poodle mix. I was married twice, divorced once and then widowed, no kids. About a year after my husband passed away, I met another wonderful man and have been with him for the past 16 years. My late husband and I traveled a lot and my partner Joe and I have traveled even more extensively. I am proud to say that I not only have traveled to every continent (except Antarctica which is on my bucket list) but also have been a passenger in a single engine plane that Joe piloted. I have always been involved in creating but in 2007 I learned about wet felting and have been doing it ever since. I teach felting, sell at galleries and high end boutiques and have made costumes for a major theme park character. After retiring in 2015 from a 35 year career in Finance at Boeing, I became even more involved with felting and had a studio built behind my bungalow; I call it Studio 907 which is my address number. I am an avid mah jongg player and play regularly twice a week. I enjoy my family and friends; reading and my book club; good food and wine; photography and Photoshop photo collaging; art and architecture; bicycling; yoga; styling and creating outfits; and staying involved, active, healthy and living an artful life.

  3. I love your clothes. That is basically all I wear. And I look forward to new designs.
    Thank you
    Ellen
