The Alembika Team Sonia Ancoli Israel, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and the Center of Circadian Biology at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine.
Her professional expertise is in the field of sleep disorders and circadian rhythms. She has served on the board and as president in many of the major sleep organizations and has been honored with many of the top awards in her field. Sonia is published regularly in medical and psychiatric journals with over 520 publications in the field.
Sonia is also very active in the San Diego Jewish Community where she was President of Congregation Beth El and spearheaded the building of two Holocaust Memorials. But Sonia’s passion, other than her family, is travel (see her travel blog: JourneysWithSonia.com), photography and beading.
