I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on my son’s birthday.
I got the news as he was rolling the ball on the bowling track. I felt like the world was turning upside down, but on the outside I was very cold and operational to the outside observer. Like I got a call from UPS about when to pick up a delivery.
I was lucky to know a friend who worked in Leal Health, a company that connects cancer patients with the right advanced treatment. They paired with the right surgeon in Sloan Kettering and I was going through surgery and treatment for about 4 months.

In these pictures, you can see me wearing Alembika, for my last day of radiation, as I rang the bell of freedom.

Some people say you get cancer as a warning signal about your life script going badly.
Some say you get it because you get it… it’s statistics and it happens randomly.
I chose this experience as a reminder to not compromise about what I want and go get it yesterday, not wait for tomorrow what we can do today.
