Fathers sometimes get a bad reputation. We complain that they are not present, do not communicate, and are not sufficiently involved with the upbringing of the kids.

Sometimes I wonder, are they really absent, or… we, the mothers, push them away and do not give them enough room to shine and to show who they are as fathers?

My father passed away 18 years ago. I was 34. It was only in the last few years that I finally connected to his warmth and gentle touch and realized his love was always there, just passive, which I translated as “absent”.

What do you remember most about your dad?

I hope you all enjoyed your fathers or their memory this past weekend.
Yael.
