My dear friend lost her daughter to suicide few months ago. We talk about grief this week in our community section.

There are so many ways to grieving. I am learning so much from my friend:

* There is no expiration date for showing up. When someone close to you dies, it’s a lifelong journey. We can show up and check on the grieving person a year later as well. Showing up never gets old.

* When I don’t know what to say, I don’t say anything or share that I don’t know what to say. Asking “how are you doing?” can only bring annoyance. I am moving the burden to her.

* It’s Ok to ask what can be helpful if I don’t know how to help.

And the one huge thing I am learning from her is that her life did not end. She is teaching me how one can move on and live with that pain. She and her husband grieve so differently and yet they are learning how to hold and support each other.

Quite inspiring.

Happy Tuesday.
