If you want to be inspired, read about Maureen.
I met Maureen at Coterie, a trade show we attended at the Javits Center, around 10 years ago. Maureen would walk the aisles with her little dog, wearing her husband’s old pants and sweater because “no one has to know how much money I have” as she loved to remind me.
She would go into our booth and point out the styles she would like to buy.

No small talk, very political and no BS. Straight to the point.
Being separated from her parents at 4 years old for a few years and coming back home to siblings and parents she did not remember makes you resilient, I guess.
Maureen turned 91 last week. She still runs her Hampton store by herself. She opens boxes and travels to the city to shop. She likes to use the train (cabs are a waste of money), so if you find yourself in Amagansett this Summer or any time, stop by her store. She is a brilliant stylist.
