I have lived in the States for 32 years and I am still in awe of the sheer size and diversity of this country. Growing up in Israel, which is the size of NJ, and with its mostly hot climate and the ability to drive from the northern tip to the southern border in just six hours, it was hard to comprehend a place like the U.S. when I first arrived. A country where the weather, accents, and even lifestyles can change dramatically from one region to another. The idea that a single plane ride could take five hours and still keep you within the same country felt like stepping into several different nations under one flag. I also discovered an entirely new concept: “Resort wear”, a style of dressing I had never encountered before and neither had the Israeli design team I worked with. It took a few seasons to adjust, but it was fascinating to learn how Americans embrace seasonal wardrobes so differently. While those in the north are bundled in winter coats and skiing, others in the south are enjoying sundresses and sunshine. And then there’s the phenomenon of “snowbirds”—a completely new term for me—who migrate south in winter to chase the warmth. It’s been a learning curve, but such an exciting one to witness and adapt to. What about you? How do you spend the cold winter months? Are you more of an après-ski person or do you embrace your inner snowbird and escape to warm beaches and sunny getaways? If so, do you have a “resort” wardrobe ready to complement your tropical escapes? Or perhaps you enjoy a mix of both, blending snowy adventures with sun-kissed retreats?
