Welcome Buffie Somers to our #Alembikawomen family. Here are her answers to our 5 questions…
What do you do (or did you do) for work?
I was a public school teacher for 38 years. Half of my career I worked with severely intellectually delayed children and the other half I worked in kindergarten. The last 10 years I have been a volunteer in the area’s largest food pantry. I have an art program for the children who visit. Feeding their tummies and their souls.
What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
I create. I love to make paper collage pieces. And if not tearing and pasting paper, I dig in the garden dirt.
What would you do if you had the whole day for yourself?
I’d be bored. I need activity so I’d call friends over for cocktails and dinner!
What do you love most about being a woman?
Perfume and great jewelry! Kidding aside, I’ve always thought being a woman was great. My mom was gorgeous, lady-like but a force. I like that combination.
What is the one piece of clothing you cannot live without?
Now that I’m retired I dress differently and certainly don’t have as many social events. So at home you can’t beat a great pair of loose fitting pants and a sweatshirt. But when I go out I want people to comment ” what a cool outfit.”
