Lori Stevenson is an adventurous woman whose love of the outdoors has been lifelong, and is ongoing… Her daring nature has led her to hike Mount Kilimanjaro in her 50s—that’s what we call reaching new heights of daring!—and she has snorkeled and dived around the world, including hiking adventures in Ecuador, Patagonia and Thailand.

Lori’s current hometown is Boston, after living in New York for 25 years. Her love of travel is still going strong and she hopes to add many more countries to her list.

Check out Lori’s answers to our 5 Alembika Women questions… And, look how stunning she is in our legendary Punto Pants!

What do you, or did you do, for work?

I worked as an epidemiologist in occupational and environmental health for many years – my last role was as director of data analysis and health outcomes for the World Trade Center Health Program.

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

Make a cup of tea and plan my next trip!

What would you do if you had the whole day to yourself?

It depends on where I am! If possible, I’d go for a long walk somewhere I have never been – or walk on the beach since it is always changing – swim, snorkel.  Nothing makes me happier than discovering a new place or connecting with a new person.

What is the best thing about being a woman?

I guess the obvious is being able to bring a person into the world. We are powerful and wonderful and we are the only ones who can do that! As Dickens once said, “I love these little people and it is no slight thing that they, who are so fresh from God, love us.”

What is the one piece of clothing you cannot live without?

I would have to say a plain white t-shirt or tank… I have a drawer full!
