Sally Bass has been creating jewelry for over 30 years, and it continues to guide her to the next adventure. Her work involves allowing each beautiful piece she creates to tell its own unique story. We checked in with Sally who has shared her answers to our #AlembikaWomen 5 Questions, here, and just in time for her Zoom Café Trunk Show, TODAY @4pm (EST)! Save your space HERE.

Sally is a steward of sorts, and can’t think of a better job. There’s nothing she’d rather be doing. She has lived on four continents and absorbed the colors, textures, patterns, rhythms, and aesthetics of each place in her unique pieces of wearable art.

Here, Sally is wearing a wonderful Alembika Trapeze Top (sold out), Willa Punto Pants, the Perfect Swing Tunic Top and Iconic Stretch Jeans… And we are so honored to see these popular Alembika designs with Sally’s incredible jewelry!

What do you do for work?
I’m a passionate jewelry designer now, but I’ve had many different jobs over the course of my life that all led me to this medium. I’ve worked as a Therapist, I’ve worked in retail, and I’ve even worked as crew on a sailboat. The wide array of jobs I’ve tried have all had their influence on me.

What would you do if you had the whole day for yourself?
Well, I must say that happens frequently. Since I have been fortunate enough to mostly remain at home these last few years, I get to enjoy being in my home and studio much more than I ever used to. On those days that I get to take for myself, I’ll often enjoy having lunch with a friend. Or I’ll sit in my back garden and read a book.

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
When I’m at a loss for what to do, I go into my studio and I wander. I touch some of my gathered treasures, and see if any inspiration will come to me. If that fails I go and watch HGTV, haha. Often spending time in my studio is all I need to recharge and get my creative juices flowing again.

What is the best thing about being a woman?
Wow, what a question! I guess I’ve never really thought about that. I’ve created a life full of extraordinary adventures, but I never stopped to consider that they were because I was a woman.

What is the one piece of clothing you cannot live without?
A Suzani Coat or Jacket. I’ve got a great collection of Suzani that I wear all the time, one for every occasion. They’re colorful and wonderful. I couldn’t imagine my wardrobe without them.
