Andrea Holper is the President of Hadassah Florida Central. We asked Andrea a few questions about life, women and Hadassah.

What makes you passionate about Hadassah?
First, Hadassah is a women-led organization. Second, we support not only women’s issues in the US but also the state of Israel and its people. The ability for so many diverse women to connect, think and act together is extremely powerful. It’s energizing and brings together the power of Jewish women.

What is the best thing about being a woman?
The opportunity to do so many different things in life. Close female friends are the best, and communities of women support each other, our children and our world.

Tell us about a moment in your life that made you think, “After that, life was never the same.”
The passing of my father when I was 35 years old. He was “old school” when it came to family and kept us connected, together. He also taught me about business, leadership and taking care of those who work for you.

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
I take the dog for a walk or pick up a book to read.

What is the one piece of clothing you cannot live without?
Sundresses. Easy, simple, lightweight pullovers for the hot Florida weather.

What would you do if you had the whole day to yourself?
I’d go to Pass A Grille beach over in St Pete… spend 2-3 hours at the beach/on the water reading, then walk 8-10 blocks to the food court and get an amazing grouper lunch… Walk the food off on the return to the car. Super relaxing and reconnects me to nature.
