Yael Edelist I always thought that occasionally doing my peers’ jobs can build a strong working team. We think we know what it takes to pack orders, inspect returns, print 100 orders, steam new samples, and unpack new shipments.
Watching from the side, it seems easy. Until you actually do it.
Last week, our warehouse team was down a person, so I stepped in to help things move smoothly for our staff and customers. Being on my feet for a few hours helping to pack orders last week was hard. My feet and back hurt. I gained a new appreciation for my warehouse crew. They do it daily, full days.
I remember my son telling me that when he went to college and lived on his own, he learned to appreciate how I made breakfast for him and his sister every day for years, before school and before going to work. Now that he does it himself, he sees how much effort it takes.
What perspective do you receive when you walk in someone else’s shoes?
