Dawn is a happy wife, dog mom, and high school English teacher in San Jose, California. She started her blog Fashion Should Be Fun in 2013. A lot of the style blogs she followed at the time were full of rules and admonishments, especially for women over 40. Dawn wanted to create a blog that focuses on fashion actually being fun! Dawn feels good about aging and her blog reflects that age-positive and body-positive attitude. The best is yet to come!
What do you do for work?
I’m a high school English teacher, which is both rewarding and exhausting. My blog is my hobby and creative outlet.
What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
Write! I love using journaling as a way to get to know myself better.
What would you do if you had the whole day for yourself?
If I had the whole day to myself, I would start off with a good breakfast and a big cup of coffee, followed by a walk with my Siberian Husky, while listening to my favorite podcasts. Later I would go for a drive, take myself out to lunch, and then go shopping. Next would be an afternoon nap. In the evening, I’d relax with a good book or good show and order in some Mexican food.
What do you love most about being a woman?
I like using my feminine intuition to create a beautiful life, including expressing myself through my personal style.
What is the one piece of clothing you cannot live without?
It’s not very sexy, but I can’t live without my comfy cardigans. I love a cozy cardigan sweater and have various textures for all the seasons.
